We are delighted to announce the opening of the Equinox personal care service, which is commissioned by Camden Local Authority and provides services to residents at 88 and 220 Arlington Road. The personal care team is registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and the service began on 2 November 2009. We provide personal and practical care to people that suffer from long term alcohol and drug dependency that live in hostel accommodation or their own accommodation. At present we have 16 service users which we support and assist. The services we provide involve assisting service users taking a bath or shower, assistance with dressing, assistance with practical tasks which includes housework, and the preparation of meals and laundry.
We also assist with medication and prescription collection. Services are available between 7am and 11pm, 365 days a year. Our team consists of nine personal care workers who work at different times over the week so that we can provide a service from early in the morning until late at night, seven days a week. The service we provide is essential. Service users have made several comments, complementing the change in management and are very pleased about the quality of service and support provided by the
personal care team. We want to assist more members of the community and aim to expand our specialist service working with drugs and Alcohol users by providing assistance to individuals in other local authorities. This will include working with individuals and families in their own homes.
