Aspinden Wood Centre hosted Chris Heffer

On 27th January 2012 we hosted a visit to our Aspinden Wood service from Chris Heffer, the Head of Drugs and Alcohol at the Department of Health. In light of the imminent alcohol strategy and the recently published outcomes framework for public health we wanted to show Chris this unique service.

Aspinden Wood provides long term accommodation to vulnerable people who have been drinking for many years and wish to continue drinking. While they do not generally achieve abstinence during their time at Aspinden Wood, service users work toward improvements in their life and experience, such as better health, more community involvement and a reduction in harmful drinking.
