Equinox Greenwich staff and service users are in training for Race for Life at Crystal Palace on Sunday 22nd June, raising funds for Cancer Research.

Eight staff and service users from Equinox Care will be doing  the 5K or 10K Race for Life course, taking place in Crystal Palace Park.

This team effort has been inspired by Equinox Greenwich service user Kathleen, who is currently in treatment for breast cancer. Kathleen had her last chemotherapy treatment in May 2014 and is now undergoing a course of radiotherapy.

Equinox Greenwich keyworker, Adrienne Catlow: “Everyone at Equinox Care is 100% behind Kathleen, wishing her well in her treatment and recovery. We’re all getting ready for Race for Life here at Equinox Greenwich. Staff and service users have been out shopping for race gear and the training sessions have been hilarious. We’re following a plan that we printed off, which includes warm up sessions, stretching and training at various speeds (fast, slow and stop!) – we’ve been jogging and walking  near to the Equinox Greenwich office, using bottles of water as our weights.”

“Kathleen is doing well at the moment. She’s coming to the end of the treatment. She’s a tough cookie and she’s got on with what she’s had to do with support. She’s so pleased that so many people are doing Race for Life, inspired by her. The ironic thing is that because of the diagnosis of breast cancer, Kathleen has made a lot of positive changes in her life – she’s stopped drinking, she goes food shopping, she buys new clothes for herself – it’s such a new way of living for her.”
