This month, we will be sharing testimonies from service users who have chronic mental ill health and other complex needs, such as physical health challenges, history of homelessness and alcohol dependence.

In a series of short audio recordings made in December 2013 at Equinox Greenwich, Equinox Care service users describe their current challenges and how they are working towards better mental health, physical health and fulfilling lives.

The first recording is Karen. Having been diagnosed with cancer in the autumn of 2013, Karen is proceeding with her cancer treatment with the support of her Equinox keyworker Adrienne, who has been attending hospital appointments and helping Karen to understand the different stages of her treatment. Karen has been told she needs to address her alcohol use to increase the chances of successful treatment for cancer, for example; she is receiving support for this from Equinox. Karen also describes the things she enjoys doing in her life, to help her relax and unwind in a positive way.

Listen to Karen's recording here - (length 2 minutes).

Check back for more audio recordings from Equinox Greenwich service users throughout January.
