Equinox Sutton are proud to be part of a borough-wide initiative this week, to raise awareness of help and support available to Sutton and Merton residents with alcohol dependence. As part of the Live Well Sutton and Merton partnership response to National Alcohol Awareness Week, Equinox Sutton is offering a free 30 minute health assessment to people who self-refer as part of this initiative.

This alcohol awareness activity is being promoted via leafleting in Wallington High Street on Thursday 22nd November and outside Sutton Civic Centre on Friday 23rd November. Partners include Live Well Sutton and Merton, Equinox, Metropolitan Police, Sutton Drug and Alcohol Recovery Team, CDSSL and Loft Young People's Service. Equinox service users who have benefited from the Equinox Sutton service will be part of the team promoting this initiative to shoppers and workers out and about this week.

Service Manager of Equinox Sutton, Walter Boyle, said: "The whole purpose of taking part in National Alcohol Awareness Week in Sutton is to signpost local people with alcohol concerns to the relevant services, including Equinox's counselling service. We can also provide information about other support groups in Sutton such as Alcoholics Anonymous and other partner agencies. In the last quarter, 110 people from Merton and Sutton have benefited from the Equinox Sutton service: 56 people have received counselling; 30 people have participated in our day programme; and a further 24 have participated in support groups."
